It's Book To Movie Monday on the blog again! Today, we're going to talk about a book series that I've read at least five times through.
My favorite books when I was younger were the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, and I believe these books are what started my love of reading. Now, it's a well-known fact that some of these books were made into movies, but not all of them. In order to fully appreciate the world of Narnia, it's best to read all seven books in order. This will give you a good look at the world of Narnia, and not just the one that most people know. I'm talking about the world after Lucy, Susan, Edmund and Peter leave for their last time in Narnia, and the world before them as well. I'm talking about the time when a young boy and girl first finds a pair of magic rings that lead them on an amazing adventure to other worlds. A journey that leads to the wardrobe being created, the same wardrobe Lucy first went through in 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.'
The books show a huge world filled with its own history and tales, and its absolutely amazing.
The movies brought the magic of the books to life, and I was quite pleased with how close to the books they stuck. Obviously, as with all movies that came from books, little bits were left out here and there. However, it did not deteriorate the story at all. If anything, it brought the magic to a whole new generation of people, showing them Narnia although they may have not read the books. I remember when I first found out that they were making the movies using current techniques (there were older adaptations made in 1988). I was sitting in a theater, and a pre-show commercial came up, showing a group of kids looking at their new home, and I immediately knew what the movie was. I couldn't contain my excitement as I stared at the screen, wide-eyes and mouth gaping. I only hoped that they would continue to turn the other books into movies, but only a few have been made out of the seven books.
Anyways, if you haven't already seen the most recent movie retelling of the books, you should. They're great, and like I said, are really close to the books.
