I'm pleased to announce that we have our first author interview on the blog!
And it's right in time for Taleteller Thursday, our day for authors!
Our author this week is Marie Saint-Louis and her first book 'RSVP from Heaven' is set to come out by the end of this month!
Be sure to check her social media sites in the links below for more info!
Marie Saint-Louis has written a book about her life and career as a psychic medium. It is her first book and I am eagerly awaiting it! I am happy to say that Marie has been very generous by answering my interview questions that you can read below which tell us a bit about the author and the book. She's also been kind enough to send us excerpts from her book, pictured below the interview!
First, would you mind telling us a little about yourself?
My name is Marie Saint-Louis, I’m a psychic medium and have lived in Phoenix, Arizona for most of my life. During the day, I am a special education teacher who has spent my career teaching juvenile offenders (probation, parole, and prisons) and alternative high schools.
At night, I balance my time conducting spiritual sessions for my clients and writing my books. My aim is to guide and empower them through my messages. I also have the gift to communicate with loved ones who are deceased.
After suffering from a life long battle with depression and social anxiety, I decided to bring my spiritual gifts to the public at events in the Phoenix, Arizona area. This led me to eventually reading for guests during several parties in Hollywood sponsored by three leading magazines.
I’ve read that you are a psychic medium. Some of the blog’s readers may not know what that entails. Can you please give a short description of your work as a medium?
“Psychic medium, spiritual medium, intuitive medium, clairvoyant medium”
Your blog readers are going to see several titles mentioned when mediums make references to themselves. The bottom line is that basically the labels all mean the same thing. They all communicate with deceased loved ones in the afterlife. I tend to refer to myself as a psychic medium or clairvoyant medium.
People often get confused or misunderstand the terminology associated with the terms psychic and medium. Not all psychics are mediums but through my experience a majority of mediums are also psychic.
When a client sits down, a psychic will be using their intuition and psychic ability to gather information about the past, present, and future for the person. This ability can also be used by holding objects belonging to the client or another person. The most common used are jewelry, an article of clothing, papers, etc.
On the other hand, a medium tunes into the spirit energy of the person in order to share information regarding their past, present, and future. Now, I am a little different, because I can actually feel the deceased person’s energy on my body. During the course of making contact with a spirit, the left side of my neck will become increasingly warmer and the ‘energy spot” will begin as a quarter in size then rapidly increase to the size of my hand. Specific messages are given to me from a variety of ways, either directly from the deceased person, spirit guides, and angels.
Do you have a favorite/memorable moment that occurred while working as a medium?
I have many memorable moments with clients connecting to their deceased loved ones. I love the part in the book where I read at an event for a couple. Both of them were hesitant about having a reading but once they sat down, I read for them for over an hour.
If so, would you mind sharing some details about it? Is it included in more detail in your book?
I remember when I took part in a city event and connected a couple to a deceased family member. Years earlier, the body belonging to the wife’s brother had been discovered along train tracks in a nearby city. According to the woman, police still had no answers on how he had died.
(Excerpt)
The sweet fragrance of jasmine surrounded us, as Sandra sat ridged and clasped both hands on the table top. Her deep set eyes became watery as she began to speak about the mysterious death of her brother.
“In 2007, they found my brother’s body near a train track and we never found out what happened to him. We still don’t have any answers from anyone, including the police.”
Within moments, the left side of my neck became warm and the sensation of pulsating electricity traveled to my shoulders. This confirmed I had a spirit of a deceased person in my midst.
“I have a male spirit with me. He is showing me the letter T. Is it Tommy, Terry, Todd? Either his first or last name begins with the letter T.”
As I connected to the spirit, I grew restless wanting to acquire as much information for the couple. The couple sat emotionless before Sandra finally spoke up and validated the lone initial.
“It’s Thomas. Oh my God,” Sandra replied.
“I am seeing the word cross. Was there a railroad crossing or did a street come to an intersection close to your brother’s body. The message is coming in intensely.”
Sandra glanced at her husband who was seated next to her on the small padded chair. He was still twisting his thick body, frustrated in becoming comfortable.
“There was an intersection where they found his body,” Sandra validated.
“Thomas is telling me it was around 4:00 a.m. early in the morning when his body was first discovered. I’m seeing a male transient who saw your brother and fled from the area and did not report what he had seen,” I replied.
Sandra tightly pressed her quivering lips together as tears began to fill her brown eyes.
“Somebody reported to the police there was a homeless looking man who was by his body then walked away. It had to be real early in the morning, before 6:00 a.m.”
“I want you to continue to validate the messages from Thomas. I believe it makes the connection even stronger.” I instructed.
This story still brings tears to my eyes even after reading this passage numerous times. I often tell people not to take your family and friends for granted because you never know when it’s their time to pass on.
What drove you to write down your experiences and publish them for the public to read? Was it a family member encouraging you, the want to share your stories with others, a dream to always write a book, etc.?
Through the years, I’ve shared stories about my psychic medium readings with clients (and anyone else who listened) and the response was very positive. People were encouraging me to begin writing a book for them.
The only problem was, finding the time. It was difficult because I had two full time careers. I finally had to make time, which meant many nights staying up until 1am-2am writing, then getting back up at 6am to get ready for another day teaching at the high school.
When and how did you discover that you had a rare skill that so few people have?
I began having my first experiences seeing and communicating with spirits when I was five years. I would see flashes of moving spirits from the corners of my eyes and had a young female “spirit friend” until sixth grade.
Do you feel that your abilities have a religious or spiritual significance (example: bestowed upon you by a higher power), or do you feel that it is an aspect of human potential that has been unlocked?
I believe that everyone has what we call intuition or our own “gut feelings” and is given to us from a higher power. I personally believe our skills, talents, or gifts, are unique to each one of us and vary in degree. An intuitive person may sense a new girlfriend/boyfriend is coming into your life. On the other hand, those who have heightened psychic gifts may also give you a first name, initials, description, and time frame for meeting them.
What are you hoping to achieve in publishing your book and sharing your story with the world?
My book is a true account of my life and there are several messages I hope readers grasp.
“We all have uncertainties about our life direction and purpose.”
I've have the pleasure to meet and guide people from all walks of life; college students, teachers, accountants, police officers, surgeons and even adult film stars. All of my stories make for a more interesting experience for my readers.
Throughout the book, readers will witness people coming to me when they are searching for direction and needing hope. We all have been there before; when our relationships are breaking apart, we are unfulfilled in our careers, family members causing havoc, and wondering if relocation will give us new opportunities and a new lease on life.
There are many people having a similar struggle within their own lives. It may not be the exact situation, but they are hurting as much as you or even more.
“Value your time with loved ones and make peace with them if you need to”
What I hear from clients is that they wished they had spent more time with loved ones before they passed. I love the part in the book where I read at a festival for a young man from Detroit, Michigan.
Dion was unsure about having his first psychic medium reading but once he sat down, I read for him for over an hour. I still remember when I connected Dion to his deceased brother Bernard. At one point during the session, Dion looked at me and said. “Damn the last time I saw my brother we fought over something real stupid. I wish I could take it all back because weeks later Bernard was murdered.”
When does your book, RSVP from Heaven, hit the shelves and where will we be able to purchase it?
I am planning on the book being available before March 31, 2015. I would like to invite everyone to join me at my social media sites for updates and more!
I would like to say a big "Thank You!" to Marie Saint-Louis for doing this interview. It has been a great opportunity to connect with an author and help her promote her new book. Again, her social media sites are accessible by the links at the beginning of this post, so please take some time to check the sites out!
Also, pictured below are two excerpts from her book!
