It's Free Book Friday again!!! Today I've found a book set in a futuristic wasteland, decimated by radiation. It's about a girl named Jade journeying to find her sister, Pearl, who has mysteriously disappeared. Jade will do whatever it takes to save her sister, risking her own life along the way. Who has taken Pearl? And for what purpose? These are only some bits in the book, 'Irradiated' by S. Elliot Brandis.
This is book 1 in The Tunnel Trilogy and, this week, books 2 & 3 are on sale for $0.99! So, check out this book and let me know what you think! Winter is finally (and hopefully) over! The weather is beautiful here and in the mid 60's! Have you taken a book outside to read lately? This month, my list of books to read grew and, so far, I've read at least three that I can remember and one that I just started! This month seemed to be mostly centered around Young Adult novels. I like those types of books because they're fun and fast to read, so I can get in as many as I possibly can! My list of books (in order read) is below, and each one has a link if you want to check out the book as well! Also, there's a new author that I've received an ebook from! I just started reading her book, 'The Bargainer' so you should check it out! It's the last link at the bottom since it's my current book! Happy reading on these sunny days! Fallen by Lauren Kate - Book one of the Fallen series. It's centered around a tragic love story of a fallen angel and a human girl. We find that the girl has been reborn many times, and the angel is always there trying to save her, but never being able to. But this lifetime, there's a twist, and we start to see that the characters begin to question everything they've ever known. Frost Bite by Richelle Mead - The second book in the Vampire Academy series. I read the first book a while ago, and the second was FINALLY available via my library's ebooks. It's about a school of vampires and half-vampires learning to protect themselves from the dreaded Strigoi, twisted vampires that want to kill. And this time, some of the students come face to face with those fears. The Raft by S.A. Bodeen in which we see what lengths the mind will take to help the body survive. After a plane crash, two survivors find themselves floating in open ocean in the life raft from the plane. How long can they survive in the open ocean? And does anyone even know they're missing? The Bargainer by A.M. Kuska - I just received an ebook copy from the author in return for a review! It's about a girl whose sister has been taken by dragons and now she is determined to save her sister, no matter what. If you decide to read this book, make sure to review it on Goodreads and/or Amazon! Every little bit helps up-and-coming authors! Oh, and are you a Kindle Unlimited member? If so, it's one of the Kindle Unlimited books! I've found a very interesting looking book for today! And of course, it's free! It's called 'Out of a Dream' and its written by Rosemary Hines.
The book follows main character Michelle Baron as she moves to start her new married life in Sandy Cove, Oregon. But she begins to have haunting nightmares that lead her to try to understand them. Her need to know about the nightmares leads her to a New Age bookstore, and on a journey that will test her faith and marriage. I haven't read this book yet, but the reviews are great for it! Make sure to check it out before the price goes back to normal! If you read and like the book, be sure to leave a comment below to let me know what you think of it! It's been one heck of a week! I'm trying to change my life around a bit, so I've been a little busy this past week! But, it's Timeless Tuesday, and I've remembered a great book for today! I was rearranging my bookcase to try and fit more books on it, and I found my copy of 'Inferno' by Dante Alighieri, or as most people know it, 'Dante's Inferno.'
This story was written sometime between 1310-1314 by Dante, and is part of 'The Divine Comedy.' It follows Dante as he enters Hell while still alive, led by his guide, Virgil. Together, they pass through the gates and go on a journey to view Hell. However, since Dante is still alive, they do run into obstacles since no living man is supposed to be there. However, Virgil is able to help Dante gain entrance. They see all types of horrors one can expect from the mind of a god-fearing man living in the 1300's. They see people who must spend eternity in all manners of punishment and tortures. They go through the nine circles of Hell, with each level representing a certain sin, and holding those who have committed those sins there, before finally arriving to find Satan enduring his own punishment. This is one of those books that might not be for everyone, since it is a tough read, but it's considered one of the world's greatest pieces of literature. The story is so well delivered and intricate that, if you find a copy that's easy for you to read, the story will be long remembered by you. There are so many translations out there that it's difficult to just look at one and be able to read it. You have to find a copy with a translation that is also more modernized than any of the others. I've included a link to the copy I own. It's one of the best English translations out there, making it easier to read the passages of the story compared to other translations that use older and outdated writing styles. If you're planning to read it, try the link below. |
